Demoting Inactive Users.

I've thought about this for a while, and I think we should demote inactive mods, rollbacks, admins and people with special rights here.
They don't do anything. If there comes a time where something (like a promotion) requires the consent of all of the admins, but you have some inactive admins, then what?
This wiki needs staff that are active here.
Not to brag, but Bleck and I are probably the most active admins here. (We are on almost every day)
Now, I'm not saying you need to be here every day to keep your rights. That's impossible, even for me sometimes.
What I am saying, if you have rights, you have a duty.
If you are inactive, you can't fufill that duty.
So, what I am saying is
We should demote inactive staff members. When they are active again, we will be more than happy to welcome them back.
So, tell me what you think!

I find that being a mod here is different from being an admin on another wiki I go to called SNN which isn't a fanon wiki.

On SNN, I maintain forums and whenever someone is harassed or find a vandal, ask me for help. I also help with article quality and clean ups when I find them. Sure I'm a bit lean on vandals and trolls but I still get rid of them. I start articles when I can, though the articles I write arn't always to structure, I'm glad other article writers help tidy them up for me, theres no real ownership of the articles there as they're all to display publicly.

But that wiki isn't a fan wiki, on this wiki I find it rude to edit others articles without permission and no one really asks for my help. Could be this wiki hardly gets trolled or simply no one knows me that well here. Or maybe this wiki gets trolled more than I realised and haven't noticed.

So yeah, while I am on every evening (UK time) I really just potter about. I would like to help with this wiki if needed, but if I am just not needed and shouldn't have my mod rights, then I'll accept demotion. Dunno much I can do here. I could be more active on the forums, but given the forums themselves arn't that active don't think I need mod rights for that.

Honestly, can't remember the reasons why I was permitted to become a mod, I'd rather deserve the right to be a mod if I am not worthy of it.

I'm conflicted about this.

On one hand I think it is a good idea, and it should be done... And we shouldn't have so many inactive admins that are... Kind of useless on the wiki... But one the other hand most of these admins are good admins and when they do come back from being demoted, they may not think very highly of the wiki or the other admins that voted to demote them... You know? ...

So it's a bit of tricky one. But in the long run, may not be such as good idea as it could discourage people from coming back to this wiki...

They could request promotion if they are good admins, but it maybe wise to accept those who wish to frequant the wiki more and help out.

I suppose so, but it just seems a little off to take someone's rights just because they are inactive, you never know how hard some admins may have worked to gain their rights and it wouldn't be fair just to take them away...

Personally, I think we should contact them about being inactive and seeing what they say, most have personal and valid reasons and it just wouldn't be fair at all to remove their rights for when they finally got the chance to get back. :/

Not to sound harsh, but an inactive admin is just as useless as no user at all. They have the right and abilities to help out, in yet they're not here. If they're not going to commit then they're dead weight, or worse a reliability if their wiki accounts are misused.

But it would be more fair to give them a right to defend their possitions.

Fair enough, I can agree on that.
