Akarune is a mysterious Zebra who is the niece of Zecora. Due to the fact that she often wears a beige cape, Akarune's cutie mark is unknown to most. She is currently in love with Arbiter, a changeling whom she rescued in the Everfree Forest.
Akarune was created for the sake of a ponified Dungeons and Dragons with the creator's boyfriend, who created Arbiter in turn. When the creator grew attached to her zebra, she decided to declare Akarune as her main original character.

Born as the only niece of Zecora, a well-known alchemist to Ponyville, expectations were set high for Akarune- significantly after her parents died. Zecora attempted to lure Akarune from her grief through the usage of wisdom, but to no avail. Eventually, Akarune locked away the gates to her heart, and abandoned any form of emotion. Her agony has not completely vanished, for it still clings to her own heart. Akarune simply chooses not to reveal how she is feeling.
