Hanging Shackles was an elite member of Discord's assassin guild Zear in Archaea, which aided Hi-Rezz in subjugating her citizens.
Betrayal[]
In fact, Zear was only a front for the Pony's Liberation Party (PLP), which served to undermine Hi-Rezz's rule. Only Burnt Forest and Ichigo Kurosaki knew of Zear's true purpose before Hanging Shackles exposed their operations.

Downfall[]
When Hanging Shackles discovered the true purpose of Zear, he rushed to kill Ichigo. But then Apple Bloom - Ichigo's girlpony waifu in Archaea - broke up the fight with a romance spell.
By the time Hanging Shackles regained control, Apple Bloom and his new soulmate Ichigo had already fled and so he killed himself with his provided cyanide tablet.
