The Smooze first appeared in the 1986 animated feature film My Little Pony: The Movie.

It is this thick purple semi-sentient gunk created by the three witches at the Volcano of Doom, a wicked witch named Hydia and her two daughters Reeka and Draggle. It was created to ruin Ponyland and the fun of the ponies. It's only weakness, despite Hydia claiming the smooze to be unbeatable, is the http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Flutter_Ponies utter flutter, though Megan Williams used the rainbow of light to temporary stop it.

The G4 version of this Smooze is different to the G1 version . It takes the form of a purple fog. Ponies with prolong exposure to the fog will become weak, sick and behave more pessimistic than usual. The advance level of the smooze is that the fog will form purple slime monsters. The creator of the smooze is Tirek with his poison magic.

The only cure to the smooze is a substance known as "Fairy Cure" which is a magic sherbet made by the mythical Flutter Ponies.
