Squire was a pony from My Little Pony Tales, he was the story told in the episode Slumber Party which in the very end his ghost shows up to thank Patch for telling his story.

In life he wanted to be a knight and to be one his father said he must tame the dragon Basil. However he lost Basil after his first account and legends say he is still searching for him.

"Modern" Squire lived during the preclassical era. His legends often regards him as a prince but he has humble beginnings. He is known for his quest to hunt the dragon Basil.

Instead of the life of a farmer, baker or agricultural occupation expect of for Earth Ponies during that time, he aspired to be a great knight and to proove himself he went on a quest to defeat the terrible dragon known as Basil. While he had reaccuring battles with throughout his adventures, Basil always best him or escapes before Squire could defeat him. Thus his quest after Basil continues. As there is no conclusion to the legend it is believed he still searching for the dragon.

Historically, he assist in the settle and defending of the new lands during development of Equestria and went on adventures across the lands by resquest of the Founding Ponies who council Equestria. While he did recieve the honour as knight, he still never gave up on his original quest to defeat Basil.

Some romance stories tell of a forbidden love between him and Private Pansy which did not succeed due to social taboo of the era while other stories suggest that Commander Hurricane intervened.

Just as the Founding Ponies have same association to the main six (Such as the leading roles in the Hearth's Warming pageant), Squire has the same relation to Epic Mount, being that they are both Earth Pony warriors with shield cutie marks.

Squire comes from the MLPTales episode Slumber Party and the majority of his legend is based on his ghost story, G4 Squire is the preclassical version of Epic Mount, other sources of inspiration for him is Arthurian legends.
